WHAT WE DO

OUR PROGRAMS

We provide a wide array of programs and services to support and empower women and children impacted by domestic violence.

AFAB affirms the right of abused women to be safe and to prosecute their offenders when necessary. A cornerstone of our mission, domestic violence prevention advocacy programs provide essential support to domestic violence survivors and their families while they attempt to regain control of their lives.

Domestic Violence (DV) Prevention

In addition to DV workshops for the professionals and the Haitian community throughout Massachusetts,  the Haitian Roundtable on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, chaired by AFAB, meets every first Wednesday of the month with different providers joining forces in the fight against domestic violence.

AFAB primary DV prevention includes:

    1. Quarterly Domestic Violence Support Group
    2. Annual Clergy Breakfast in July at the Great Hall/ Codman Square Health Center
    3. Annual Domestic Violence Prevention Forum in October at Mildred Ave Community Center

Our Adult Education programs provide individuals with the fundamental skills necessary to secure gainful employment and to better integrate themselves into society.

WHAT THEY SAY

I am thankful to AFAB for helping me go through one of the darkest seasons of my life. They were there for me and gave me the resources I needed to get my life back on track.

Domestic Violence Survivor

I sleep at night knowing that there are women who have dedicated their lives to saving the lives of other women. The staff at AFAB were there for me after I was abused for more than 7 years. They had guided me after I had lost everything, and thanks to them today I got my life back.

Domestic Violence Survivor

I remember when I was a kid, my mom and I had to run away from my dad who was an alcoholic. AFAB was the place that welcomed us. I felt safe because my dad was no longer going to hurt my mom.
